Food and service is great. Fatty cut brisket is tender and melts in your mouth like butter. Pulled pork is good. Didn't love the sausage. Corn pudding would be better without the pepper and add cheese for my tastes. Love the banana pudding pie, the crust is very special.

Despite having high expectations, Lewis BBQ managed to exceed them. Absolutely superb food. Cannot say enough about it. You should be forewarned that parking onsite isn't great, so plan to walk some; and there can be a long line, but the food is absolutely worth it.

I honestly don’t know why it took me so long to come here. This is hands down the best barbecue I’ve had in my life. Every item we tried was incredible, and the portions were unbelievably generous. We loved it so much that we came back three days in a row. The meat was perfectly cooked and literally melted in my mouth. Even the sides stood out — the French fries were excellent, and both the coleslaw and collard greens were full of flavor. They offer four different sauces, and every single one was delicious. On top of the amazing food, every staff member we interacted with was genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Lewis Barbecue truly lives up to the hype and is an absolute must-visit in Charleston.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.7/5) Visited Lewis Barbecue while in North Charleston and had an excellent overall experience. We built our own platter with fatty and lean brisket, pork ribs, Texas hot links, green chile cheddar sausage, pulled pork, smoked turkey, plus mac and cheese and green chile corn pudding on the side. The brisket was cooked perfectly on both the lean and fatty cuts. The seasoning leaned a bit lighter on salt than my personal preference, but the cook was spot on. The smoked turkey fully lived up to its reputation, especially paired with their green chile sauce. Ribs were very good. The only low point was the sausage, which had good flavor but tougher casings than expected. Ordering was easy and efficient. The interior is well designed with a split ordering and register setup. Cold sweet tea was available, and it appeared they had a full bar as well. For barbecue outside of Texas, this is an excellent option. I would absolutely return and even took leftovers back to the hotel. Highly recommended.

Great atmosphere, counter workers were very friendly and knowledgeable, answering all my questions. We wanted to try it all, so we got it all. Brisket was delicious (and surprisingly it's hard to find good brisket around Holy City), great bark and not dry. We got both kind of homemade sausage, hot guts was my favorite. Pulled pork was amazing, also had fantastic bark. Pork ribs were in point, the rub it's just a bit salty, but good overall. Turkey breast was ok, good flavor, but not sure what actual meat is used, the texture feels "gummy". Don't get me wrong, it's not dry, just feels almost like the "fake" chicken breast that you get at fast food restaurants. The secret BBQ sause was definitely my favorite out of the all, with original red in second place. Fries were delicious. Mac and cheese was fantastic. And last, but not least the lemon curd and raspberry pie is the perfect dessert to end a delicious meal with. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for delicious BBQ around Low Country area.

I love Lewis. This location and Greenville. I usually share brisket, pulled pork, and smoked turkey, but this time we got brisket nachos + sides. They were great, but the sliced brisket is the way to go. Corn casserole is a must, always. I thought that only having pie (no classic pudding) was a downside, but the banana pudding pie was amazing.

Came here with my husband and when you come in you get a sample of the fatty brisket, it was good. I ended up getting the lean sliced brisket (1/2 lb) and the chopped brisket (1/4 lb) and a side of coleslaw. My husband got the sausage and ribs and theoretically I should have only got 1/4 lb of brisket because 1/2 lb was a lot of meat and I couldn’t finish the chopped brisket. But my goodness was the meat tender, delicious and didn’t even need sauce. I did try the sauces and I liked the original the best, but the meat barely needed any. The coleslaw was tangy, didn’t love it. And my husband also got the chile corn pudding, which had an interesting taste to it, reminded me of a quiche. I also asked for dill pickles on the side. The Diet Coke was also top notch. Will be coming back when we’re in town again!

Lewis is our go-to BBQ place to bring our family and friends when they visit Charleston, especially the meat-lovers. We've been to Rodney Scott's, Hometeam, and Swig & Swine, but Lewis is superior in taste and quality. I'm not much of a meat person, but I love all their sides, which is something of an afterthought at a lot of the other BBQ joints in Charleston. I love their Green Chile Corn Pudding, Collard Greens, Beef Tallow Fries, and Potato Salad. My husband loves their Pulled Pork Sandwich, and their Beef Brisket, but truthfully everything is worth trying.
